One year ago, a commitment to early literacy became a program. Last Saturday, that program filled a room, raised $400,000, and reminded us exactly why this work matters.
We celebrated the one-year anniversary of Aicardi Early Steps, a Curry College initiative bringing one-on-one literacy tutoring to Boston students. Launched in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston and Literations, the program is already reaching kids in South Boston and Blue Hill who need it most.
None of it would exist without the vision of program benefactor and Curry alum Tom Aicardi, who wanted to give every child a chance to become a confident reader.
