The Herb Society of America – Wisconsin Unit is offering a $1,000 scholarship for the 2023 Fall semester.
DEADLINE: May27, 2022 See attachment for application
REQUIREMENTS:
Student must be enrolled in the MATC’s Culinary Arts, Culinary Management or Baking and Pastry associate degree programs.
Student must have completed 15 credits in one of these degree programs at time of scholarship application.
Student must have a 3.0 grade point average.
Student must have “hands on” culinary or baking/pastry experience either as a volunteer or as a paid employee.
The scholarship money must be used for tuition and books and may not be used for paying off student loans, the purchase of equipment or off-campus courses.

The scholarship recipient must agree to speak to the Unit members (5-10 minutes) at the Unit’s January 17, 2023 meeting at 11 am.

The scholarship recipient may be asked to volunteer at the Herb & Artisan Fair at Boerner Botanical Gardens on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Herb & Artisan Fair is sponsored by the Herb Society of America-Wisconsin Unit.

The Farm Tech Associate will conduct daily farm tasks including planting, harvesting, and packaging for a variety of different plants including lettuce, basil, and other assorted leafy greens, and perform ongoing maintenance of the farm as directed by the Farm-Tech Supervisor.

Farm Tech Supervisor - Full Time - Job Summary

The Farm Tech Supervisor (FTS) oversees and manages all growing operations at the Hundred Acre Farm facility. The FTS will provide expertise in food safety, vertical hydroponic growing, demonstrate effective leadership and build a healthy staff culture. The FTS will directly supervise the crew of Farm-Tech Associates and Apprentices, and Pre-Apprentices. The FTS will ensure all daily tasks are completed successfully by the farm team according to the Standard Operating Procedures, which will include seeding/propagating, transplanting, plant maintenance, harvesting, cleaning, pest management and packaging of greens. The FTS will also help to represent the farm to select customers, partners and the public.
