We're looking for Summer Art Interns! We are currently accepting applications through MPS MKE Rec for Pre-College high school interns paying $12.50 per hour. The deadline to apply is Wed. May 15 at 5 pm!

The link to apply to Pre-College is in our bio, and after you fill it out, you can apply to MKE Rec through the link on our application! If you have any questions contact ArtsECO by email, [email protected].

Students must:
Be at least 16 years of age, be a high school equivalent student, be a resident of the City of Milwaukee OR currently enrolled in a MPS high school. More info below:

ArtsECO Pre-College Interns are paid participants in UWM’s fun and innovative ArtsECO Pre-College classes and provide feedback to instructors and staff in art classes as well as serve as peer mentors for other students, modeling how to engage in art making at a high level. We’re seeking curious students who love to make visual art, are open to new ideas and challenges, and enjoy working with others. Interns receive high-quality art supplies, and university-level instruction, exhibit their artwork at UWM, have their work professionally photographed, and attend Pre-College classes free of charge.

Schedule: Periodic hours for training, onboarding, and program prep held between DATES (determined by the intern’s availability). ArtsECO’s 2-week Pre-College program meets (M-F) June 17-28, from 9am-4pm. Interns may work full days or choose to work the morning (9am-12pm) or afternoon (1-4pm) shift/sessions during the program. Week 1 morning: Painting 1 , afternoon: Experimental Studio, week 2 morning: Painting 2, afternoon: Drawing. Interns are expected to arrive fifteen minutes before classes begin.
Age requirement: Open to students 16 years of age or older

Drawing with Instructor Cynthia Hayes

Afternoon Session | Week 2

Students will participate in new collaborative and independent projects that explore a wide range of materials and experimental processes. We’ll draw inspiration from exciting contemporary art and artmaking practices to create 2D and 3D works that explore big ideas in an open and encouraging environment.
Drawing is a language that can transform a blank page into a new world. Drawing is also a skill that helps us express ourselves, develop our ideas, and better understand the world. Peck School of the Arts drawing faculty helps students move from observation and imagination to highly developed drawings and a strong artistic voice.

Join us for our last Teacher MeetUp EVER at the Lynden Sculpture Garden next Thursday, April 25th, from 5 to 7 pm! We will be meeting up one last time to celebrate our wonderful teacher community

Wander the gardens and learn about inspired arts curricula from the Lynden Innovative Educators Institute (IEI). Plus, create with Lynden’s art teachers in residence, who will have an art making station for attendees to design a felt-shaped collage that recalls moments of community building within our past and recent ArtsECO memories and teaching experiences. We hope to see you all there!
