Meet sophomore chemical and biomolecular engineering major Alanis Velez! This summer, Alanis was a research intern at the Institute for NanoBioTechnology at Johns Hopkins University through their Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked in the lab of Dr. Konstantinos Konstantopoulos studying how mechanical cues in the tumor microenvironment drive cancer cell migration and metastasis, with applications in designing therapeutic targets for aggressive cancers. Well done, Alanis!

We're incredibly grateful to Milwaukee Tool for making a generous in-kind donation of products including toolboxes, hard hats and carts to support MSOE's STEM Center, CAECM and User Experience departments. Students will begin putting many of these resources to use as early as this fall. Other tools will be ready to support hands-on learning in the Robert D. Kern Engineering Innovation Center when it opens next year.

Meet junior mechanical engineering major Skye Sonnabend! This summer, she was a test engineering intern at the Honda Auto Development Center. She created a tool to benchmark competitor vehicles at the HALO Wind Tunnel and designed and implemented a new sensor system into their benchmarking process. Great work, Skye!

Meet senior computer engineering major Perry Newlin! This summer, he was an intern with AMD in Austin, Texas continuing work he started in a co-op for the company in Boston, Massachusetts the fall semester of 2025. At AMD, he supported the virtual bring up effort of AMD processors based on the Zen architecture using multi-FPGA prototyping systems enabling testing and validation of future processor designs before physical silicon is available. Excellent work, Perry!
