He will speak about his decades of cultural artistry working in Puerto Rico's oldest living musical tradition, bomba. This music and dance was created on the island by our enslaved African ancestors to create communities of support between the various ethnic groups that were forced to live together.

"The Emotional Labor of Dialogue"

Many models of civic dialogue assume a disposition marked by "rational calm." However, the work we are doing together is emotional work. How do we think about the role of emotions in civic dialogue? How do we honor the knowledge emotions give us, remain true to them, and still converse constructively?

This event is open to all, but we request advance registration as dinner is provided https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/WE2PbWxKjq
