Ever seen an eye move on its own in a slow, rhythmic drift? That is the Heimann Bielschowsky phenomenon, a rare type of nystagmus that appears in just one eye, usually one with long term, severe vision loss.

This clip comes from the Neil R. Miller Collection on NOVEL, a free neuro ophthalmology video library. More at novel.utah.edu.

See it for yourself in this clip from the Neil R. Miller Collection on NOVEL at novel.utah.edu.

Homonymous hemianopia means losing the same side of vision in both eyes. It’s caused by damage in the brain, most often from a stroke, rather than a problem with the eyes themselves. People may bump into things on one side, and many don’t fully realize what they’re missing because the brain fills in the gap.

Our patient education video explains what it is, and how it’s diagnosed. Learn more: https://loom.ly/SlBhGqI
