The Institute for Engineering in Medicine (IEM) is an interdisciplinary research organization consisting of over 190 faculty members spread between the college of science and engineering and the academic health center at the University of Minnesota. The institute is dedicated to discovering engineering solutions to medical problems and provides a gateway for intramural and extramural access to Uni

versity of Minnesota resources. Throughout the year, IEM offers numerous educational, research, and collaborative opportunities for industry and academia.

On Monday evening, IEM and VHL Visible Heart Laboratories hosted their annual Advanced Cardiac Physiology and Anatomy Short Course reception.

This year the keynote speaker was Travis Dahlen, Senior Director of Software & Systems Engineering at Abbott Electrophysiology. Travis shared insights that he had gained from this event in the past and how it inspires his work.

Thank you to everyone who attended. We look forward to seeing you in January 2027 for the next short course event!
