Freshman, Ava Pleus, on why she joined Alpha Phi 💗

“During the beginning of freshman year I was unsure about going through the recruitment process, however, it has become one of the best decisions I have made so far. During recruitment I was always so excited to walk into Alpha Phi, and as the rounds went on and became deeper, there were times when I left with tears of joy because of the connections I had made. Every time I have walked into the Alpha Phi house since then I have felt welcomed and comforted by each and every one of the girls. They always made me feel comfortable talking about my struggles, my family, and most importantly their philanthropy. Seeing how dedicated and personable the girls in Alpha Phi were about Women’s Heart Health inspired me to join and become part of their amazing sisterhood. I can’t wait to create a stronger bond by living in the house next year with some of my best friends, and I can’t wait to make some incredible memories!!”

This past weekend, our Vice President of Membership Recruitment, Avery Johnson, was selected to attend the Disney Institute Leadership Conference!

“I am truly grateful to the Alpha Phi leadership for the opportunity to attend the Leadership Conference at Disney! This transformative experience provided me with valuable insights into effective leadership and our sisterhood’s core values. Each seminar challenged me to reflect on my approach and how I can positively impact those around me.

Representing the Epsilon chapter was an honor. I connected with inspiring sisters and heard from incredible speakers, including fellow leaders and dedicated alumni, whose stories of perseverance reaffirmed the strength we share as Alpha Phis.

This journey has enhanced my personal growth and deepened my connections within our sisterhood. I look forward to bringing these lessons back to our chapter and fostering even stronger bonds among us. Thank you, Alpha Phi, for this unforgettable experience!”

“Gisele is one of those people that you meet and will immediately find yourself being drawn to. Her presence is so fun and comfortable. I am so grateful to have met Gisele on the first night of freshman year. We went from knowing nothing about each other to being able to know what the other was thinking before saying it. I will never forget the night before Bid Day when G and I stayed up until 5 am talking and laughing in the Pioneer study room. The next day we both went Alpha Phi and created a lifetime’s worth of memories. This upcoming year will be no different. Gisele is the most authentic and reliable person I’ve ever met. I look up to her in countless ways. Thank you for always being you. I love you G“

“When I first met Addie I knew she was going to be a best friend for life. Immediately I knew I could tell her anything and not a single cell in her body would judge me. “When I finally decided to go to the U I was very nervous to find a roommate… I was even more nervous meeting her on move-in day. I’m thankful every day for giving me the best roommate and friend I could ask for. Tessa is the most genuine, funny, and kind person I know. Through all my ups and downs during freshman year she was always the first person I went to and a shoulder I could lean on after a long night out together or a hard day of classes. I am so grateful Alpha Phi brought us closer together and am so excited for the memories that are yet to come living in the house this year! I am so grateful to call her my sister, roommate, and one of my best friends.”

“I am so grateful for the University of Minnesota class of 2027 page for bringing belle and I together. Some people might think they would get sick of being roommates and sisters, but thats just not possible with Belle. She is the type of person you could never be bored with. Belle constantly makes me laugh at whatever outrageous thoughts go through her head. She is there whenever I need someone to vent to. We are basically conjoined at the hip (expect for when she goes on her little side quests). I have missed her so much this summer and can’t wait to be together again!“

This past weekend our chapter president, Mia Caltagirone, had the incredible opportunity of attending the Alpha Phi International Convention in California.

“Last week I had the privilege and honor of attending the 74th biennium Alpha Phi International Convention in Palm Springs representing the Epsilon chapter. I’m very appreciative of all the seminars and ceremonies I got to go to and participate in, listening to the soon to be first Alpha Phi in space, as well as meet alumni and incredible fellow presidents. This chapter has given me the opportunity to become a leader and grow as a person. Being surrounded by all the collegiate and alumni members was the most inspirational and uplifting feeling I have ever experienced.
In one night, at the Red Dress Impact Celebration dinner, we raised over $100,000 for our philanthropy - the Alpha Phi Foundation which supports research for Women’s Heart Health. This truly shows the passion we have for our philanthropy. Our chapter was also recognized and awarded for our philanthropic efforts by receiving the award, “Chapter Cumulative Gifts of $500,000”. I’m so proud of all the women in my chapter for all the work they put in these past 2 years at our philanthropy events to raise that amount and to make such an impact in Women’s Heart Health research. The connections made and all of the accomplishments celebrated throughout the convention by all of the chapters across the US and Canada speaks volumes to the culture of the Alpha Phi sisterhood. I will forever hold this experience very close to my heart and cannot thank Alpha Phi enough for everything it has brought me.”

Thank you for everything you’ve done for this chapter, and the everlasting legacy you helped build. We couldn’t be more excited to see where your future takes you. We are so proud of all your accomplishments and the strong women we’ve watched you become. We will love and miss you dearly, and you will always have a home at 323!

Abroad highlight: McKenna in Morocco 🌅🐪

“I recently traveled to Morocco with some of my best friends, Molly, Angela, Abbi, and Riley. We traveled from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert! As we drove through this beautiful country we stopped at Ait Zineb and Tinghir where we learned more about the history and culture of Morocco. This was a trip of a lifetime that I feel so grateful to have had, I got to meet so many amazing people from all over the world, explore a new place and immerse myself in the culture. Some of my favorite parts of this trip was when we rode camels through the Sahara Desert and attempted sand-boarding (we weren’t very good) or when we laid in the sand and stared at the brightest stars I have ever seen!”
