Sometimes, the path to teaching starts with a career in something completely different. 💜

For Buc Page, a career in yoga instruction and strength training sparked a passion for helping others recognize their strengths and discover what they're capable of. That same passion led him to pursue his MA in Teaching at the University of St. Thomas.

With undergraduate degrees in computer science and business management, Buc initially wondered how he would transition into the classroom. Through supportive faculty, flexible online coursework and hands-on field experiences, he's gaining the confidence and skills to make a difference as an educator.

Now completing his fieldwork and student teaching in a fourth-grade classroom at Dowling Community School, Buc has some advice for anyone considering a career change:

“You don't have to have it all figured out before you start. You just have to show up and grow into it.”

In September, we welcomed our graduate teacher residency candidates to the Minneapolis campus for their first classes of the fall semester. Thanks to JonnyPops for providing refreshing treats!

Through partnerships with Minneapolis Public Schools (MSTR), Saint Paul Public Schools SPPS (SUTR) and local charter schools, these future educators are working toward their teaching licenses and master’s degrees while continuing to work in their school communities.
