The Graduate School of Professional Psychology is dedicated to the training, education, and professional development of general practitioner-scholars who will make ethical and creative contributions to their communities and professional disciplines. If you're interested in becoming a professional counselor, marriage and family therapist or counseling psychologist, University of St. Our range of programs ensures that whether you are new to the mental health field or already a seasoned practitioner, your coursework will be real-world applicable. Our 11 full-time faculty teach and practice from a broad range of theoretical perspectives, and our small group of adjunct faculty work in a variety of clinical settings and bring their real-world knowledge and expertise right into the classroom.

Huge news in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology. After many website revisions, ongoing communications, and a full day site visit, our doctoral program in Counseling Psychology has been reaccredited by the American Psychological Association for 10 years!

It was a team effort to get everything in order, and we're thankful for everyone who was a part of it! We'd also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Salina Renninger, Director of Training for the PsyD program, for leading the APA reaccreditation process, and to all the faculty and staff who help to make the GSPP program so well regarded.

Our Graduate School of Professional Psychology is starting its second academic year with a Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) grant of more than one million dollars for Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) that is centered on Community-focused Integrated Behavioral Healthcare (CIBH). This grant has provided numerous opportunities for our students to advance their studies and build partnerships across institutions.

This spring, Dr. Renninger and Dr. French (the leads of the project) accompanied the CIBH scholars on a conference in Seattle, the National Multicultural Conference and Summit, which was described as life-changing by one of the students. We're grateful to receive such incredible funding that supports our students in the Graduate School of Professional Psychology.

Welcome to our incoming Master of Counseling Psychology and Doctor of Counseling Psychology students! Last Thursday, we hosted orientation for all of our Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) students giving them the opportunity to mingle with classmates, faculty and staff and connect with advisors.

We found ourselves deep in conversation discussing the university mission, psychology values and professional identity, scholarship, service, and the ever present need for community. We're grateful these students have chosen a path that seeks to foster community and support it through relationship and conversation.

Welcome again to the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, we can't wait for all you will accomplish in your time with us!

✨New Faces in the Morrison Family College of Health✨

Dr. Malindi ‘Mindi’ Gowen completed her Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her clinical work has mostly involved working with Veterans, and she completed her doctoral internship at the Montana VA. She primarily conducts qualitative research, and her dissertation examined the use of narrative coherence in assessing the well-being of Congolese refugee women. She is a co-author on a chapter in the upcoming edition of the Counseling Psychology handbook focused on refugees and immigrants in the United States.

Mindi joins the Graduate School of Professional Psychology this fall as the Assistant Director of MA Programs. Welcome Dr. Gowen!
