Pfeiffer University Alumni Association ๐Ÿ’› Welcome to the Pfeiffer University Alumni Association! ๐Ÿ–ค

This year brought big moments and bigger growth for Alex Michael โ€™27.

As a nursing major, Alex pushed himself in the classroom and on the field, and was honored as Pfeifferโ€™s first male CSC First Team Academic All-American.

Stories like Alexโ€™s reflect what alumni support makes possible: growth, opportunity, and a strong foundation for what comes next.

If itโ€™s been a while since youโ€™ve given, thereโ€™s still time to come back and be part of this yearโ€™s story.

Athletics opened the door, but for Juan Cabrera โ€™26, leadership became the focus.

At Pfeiffer, students are gaining more than an education. Theyโ€™re building confidence, developing real-world skills, and discovering what theyโ€™re capable of through experiences like public speaking, team leadership, and strategic thinking.

That kind of growth is possible because of a community that shows up.

Aubrie Gatz '29 came to Pfeiffer for psychology, but found something even more: purpose, community, and a place to belong.

From the classroom to the tennis court, her journey is one of growth, connection, and possibility. And itโ€™s made possible by donors like you.

Thereโ€™s still time to be part of this yearโ€™s impact.

Sports Management Spotlight: Daniel Fulp

Daniel currently serves as the Director of Sports Performance for the University of Louisiana Monroe Menโ€™s Basketball Team.

While at Pfeiffer, Daniel was a member of the Menโ€™s Basketball Team.

His favorite memory inside the sport management program was:
The inside joke with Professor Rose of "Daniel could stop the train with his bare hands."
He also loved the daily attendance questions where Professor Rose would require students to think about something random everyday.

Most important skills?
โ€œAll the projects and group work taught communication and discipline. Without those skills, I would not be where Iโ€™m at today.โ€

Advice to current students?
โ€œMy advice would be to simply go out and meet people. Never be afraid to shake someoneโ€™s hand and introduce yourself because they may be connected to your next promotion or job. Always be vocal and believe in yourself, Pfeiffer is a small community but if you put yourself in a good situation the opportunities are endless. โ€œ

Is there anything you would like to add?
โ€œI enjoyed the guest speakers we had as well, it gave insight on different job opportunities in the sports world.โ€

โ€œI was asked by the AD John Currie my second day at Wake Forest, what is the most important rule of the sports world or someone who works within sports and my answer was safety immediately. Sometimes Professor Rose was a chatterbox but if you take anything away from his classes you should know safety is the number one priority when working in the sports world.โ€

Professor of Psychology Dr. Don Poe participated in his last Pfeiffer graduation ceremony earlier this month. He says he owes his distinguished career to several factors. The first was his response to a false start in the 1960s during his first two years at Duke University. He had enrolled in its College of Engineering (now the Edmund T. Pratt Jr. School of Engineering), having followed the advice of his high school guidance counselor in northern Virginia. The counselor had told Poe that the country needed more engineers. Poe wouldnโ€™t become one of them. Click the link to read more: https://www.pfeiffer.edu/pfeiffer-professor-retires-from-a-perfect-fit/
