Live Case in Marketing takes on Wyoming!

A group of 21 students in Dr. Myles Landers and Emily Stokes’ Live Case Marketing course recently traveled to the NOLS World Headquarters in Lander, Wyoming, to get a firsthand look at the organization and its marketing challenges.

During their visit, students participated in a leadership navigation course and a two-day Wilderness First Aid course. They also met with NOLS executives and faculty to learn more about the organization and gain valuable insight to guide their research.

Throughout the semester, students will use what they learned to develop data-driven recommendations for the organization's marketing strategy before presenting their findings to the organization’s executives!

Justin sits down with host Aundrea Self to talk about getting his start through Mississippi State’s E-Center, turning an early smoothie vending machine concept into Juva Juice, growing from one location to seven and learning when to pivot along the way.

This week, Dr. Sherlock’s Family Business Management class welcomed members of the Ergon team to the classroom, where students learned firsthand what it looks like to build and sustain a family business across generations!

Students had the opportunity to hear from Paul Pinkerton, Corporate HR Director, who shared an overview of Ergon along with internship and career opportunities within the organization.

Amy Walker and Barton Lampton, third-generation family members, also shared their personal experiences working within the family business founded by their grandfather, Mr. Leslie Lampton. Students learned how the family governs the business, why remaining privately owned is important to them, and how they have intentionally built and maintained Ergon’s company culture across three generations.

We are so thankful to Paul, Amy, and Barton for taking the time to speak with our students and share their experiences!
