The more information you share about your project the better. There is a question at the end of the application where you can share anything not already asked and you can also attach any additional info to the application, such as budget numbers, inspiration photos, etc. Nothing is off limits to share!

We are loving hearing about your inspiring projects all over Mississippi. Keep them coming! August 23 is the last day!

The Small Town Center was honored to be a part of the Mississippi Main Street Association 40th Anniversary celebration and awards ceremony yesterday! We even won an award for our Cowbells and Paint Pails Asphalt Art Project!

The STC was instrumental in starting MS Main Street way back in 1984 and we have continued to collaborate, not only as a bronze sponsor, but through design trainings, design publications, and what we consider valuable work with our Main Street communities.

A huge thank you to Paige Watson for being a great Main Street director for Starkville and for nominating us for this award!

The second of three public art works, Empty Handed by Lawson King, was installed yesterday at the Sportsplex in front the Annex Building as part of the Starkville Public Art Plan that we are working on with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, along with the Starkville Area Arts Council. When we surveyed the community on where public art should be located around Starkville, the parks and downtown were the two highest responses. The scale, interactivity, and content of Lawson’s piece make the Sportsplex and its proximity to the sports fields a perfect location for this sculpture. Yay for public art!

We’re excited to embark on a new project in Amory, MS helping provide contextual housing designs for the tornado-ravaged community.

This map shows the fascinating layout of the city, which has a North-South grid that intersects the grid defined by the railroad.

Stay tuned for more on this project!
