Our Story
We study the interactions among climate, vegetation, and fire activity over a range of spatial and temporal scales, in the past, present, and future. Our projects are integrated by an overarching goal to understand ecological change over time. We use modern observations and paleoecological records to reveal patterns and processes unobservable over human life spans, provide context for ongoing environmental change, and help anticipate the consequences of future environmental change. The Lab’s work is supported primarily by the National Science Foundation and Joint Fire Science Program, and we publish our findings across a range of leading journals in the field of ecology.
