πŸš€ Literacy Launchpad Takes Off at Chickasaw Elementary! πŸ“šβž•πŸ”’

Literacy Launchpad is off to an amazing start at Chickasaw Elementary! Our first day of camp was filled with smiles, learning, and plenty of excitement as students launched into a summer of discovery and growth.

One highlight of the day was seeing math and literacy come together through our innovative co-teaching model. By blending numbers and words, teachers created engaging learning experiences that encouraged every student to participate, contribute, and shine. ✨

From solving problems to sharing ideas, students began their summer learning journey with enthusiasm, confidence, and curiosity. We are excited to watch them continue to grow throughout the weeks ahead!

HKS in Greece – Study Abroad 2026

Our Health, Kinesiology, and Sport students have been busy exploring Blue Zone lifestyles in Greece!

During this 10-day study abroad experience, students traveled to Athens and Chania, Crete, where they immersed themselves in the culture, traditions, and wellness practices that contribute to healthy, active living. Along the way, they hiked the stunning Kourtaliotiko Gorge, foraged for local herbs in the hills of Chania, and participated in mindfulness and movement-based activities along the beautiful beaches of Crete.

This incredible experience has provided opportunities to build community, move mindfully, eat wisely, and explore a new part of the world while learning firsthand about the factors that support health and longevity.

πŸ“šβœ¨ Sharing Innovative STEM Teaching Practices at the UTeach STEM Educators Conference! βœ¨πŸ“š

Faculty from the College of Education and Professional Studies UTeach South program recently presented their work at the UTeach STEM Educators Conference in Austin, Texas.

Dr. McCall, Dr. Parrish, and Mrs. Cheek shared their research on the use of Project-Based Instruction (PBI) in middle school mathematics classrooms, highlighting how authentic, real-world learning experiences can increase student engagement and deepen mathematical understanding.

As part of the presentation, Dr. McCall's PBI students showcased their final course projects, which included developing grant proposals and designing field trip experiences that help middle school students connect classroom learning to real-world applications.

We are proud of our UTeach South faculty and students for contributing to important conversations about innovative STEM education and preparing future educators to create meaningful learning experiences for all students.
