Students, faculty, and staff are invited to grab their lunch and join the Political Science Department in collaboration with the Foley Center for a talk by Assistant Professor of Political Science Dr. Vlad Kravtsov. Dr. Kravtsov will speak on factors accounting for the outbreak of war in Ukraine, what the war reveals about how Russia is governed, and why average Russians support a criminal war against Ukraine. Student-designed merchandise will be available for sale; a portion of all proceeds will benefit humanitarian relief efforts.

Congratulations to our own Political Science student Gillian Nelson on co-winning the URS2021 in the category of Best Original Research! Gillian Nelson (Political Science) Ukraine and Vaccine Diplomacy. In her research, Gillian deploys several main conceptual frameworks (such as rational-choice approach and constructivist perspective) to explore how, why, and with what consequences the Ukrainian government decides which COVID vaccines to approve for their citizens.

Congratulations to our own two Political Science Students on being selected as the second runner-up in the URS2021 in the category of Best Class Project! Stephen Bonck, Wyley Sharp (Political Science) presented a project entitled "Crisis in Yemen: Advice to a Policymaker." This project developed a piece of detailed advice and plan of action to a specific US Foreign Policy Administrator on how to deal with the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the country of Yemen.

CONGRATULATIONS to Griffin Morgan!!! In the category "Class Projects" (which includes projects completed as a part of class whether individually or by a group) the winner is Griffin Morgan from the Department of Political Science & Law with the presentation entitled "Coronavirus out of Deadlock: The Effects of the Pandemic on the Electoral Process in Israel." This research profiled one political event, i.e., building an improbable political compromise, that, counterintuitively, became possible because of the disruptive influence of COVID-19.
