A great visual for how pianos keys relate to the grand staff (a treble staff and a bass staff) of music.

The treble 🎼 clef staff is generally for higher notes (played with the right hand on a piano), while the bass clef staff is for lower notes (for the left hand). Each hand doing its own thing.

Tuning a piano is adjusting the pins of some 230 strings for roughly 88 keys on the piano, to produce a clear stable tone with no notes wavering out of sync.

🎹 A dying craft, that’s in demand. Learning how to repair chipped edge historic ivory piano key-tops. A process using acrylic monomer liquid and acrylic polymer powder. Almost impossible to see after application, filing and buffing.

New hammers, shanks and flanges play & sound much better on a Steinway. If you’re still playing old dried up deteriorated hammers on a “Steinwas” may be time to update them!
