It is a lovely, sunny morning on campus. The magnolia tree outside of the Ross Administration Building is in bloom, and the fountain at the entrance created a rainbow in the pond.

Thank you to Lancaster Farming news for highlighting the new Keystone Animal Diagnostic Center that is located at Penn State Beaver.

We are pleased to be able to join the system of state-funded facilities that make up the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory system through the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to provide local farmers easy access to testing in order to keep their livestock healthy and safe.

Livestock and poultry farmers in western Pennsylvania now have a closer option for animal testing.

Penn State Beaver is closed Friday, June 19 in observation of Juneteenth, the annual holiday that recognizes the historic day in 1865 when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas carrying a degree that officially ended slavery.

We wrapped up our first week of New Student Orientation (NSO) for the coming fall semester. It’s always a highlight of summer to welcome new students and their families to campus to start them on their Penn State journey here. After meeting with staff and faculty, the students had dirty sodas, played video games and had a chance to try out VR headsets.

We hope everyone had a great NSO, and we look forward to seeing everyone in August!

Penn State students, you have an opportunity to learn how to make the most of LinkedIn and build your personal brand at a workshop led by Penn State alumnus Jamie Orlando, vice president of market development for the Clinical Group at Life Science Connect and the past president of the American Marketing Association-Pittsburgh. He was also our Penn State Beaver commencement speaker this year!

The workshop is being held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. July 23 at the Franco Harris Pittsburgh Center at Penn State in Pittsburgh. There is also an option to attend online. Space is limited, and registration is required by July 16.
