Today, we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth — a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equality.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce that enslaved African Americans were finally free. This historic day became known as Juneteenth, marking the end of slavery in the United States and serving as a powerful reminder of our nation's continued journey toward justice and opportunity for all.

At Drury GO Monett, we honor the importance of education, understanding, and the diverse stories that shape our communities. As we reflect on this significant moment in history, we encourage everyone to learn, listen, and celebrate the strength and contributions of those who came before us.

Dr. Frederick had the opportunity to connect with our Monett staff, recent Drury GO - Monett graduates, and community leaders.
