Silent Weekend at Western Oregon University If you are looking for worthwhile workshops, great entertainment, and a chance to sharpen your skills, then this immersion experience is for you!

This is a skill development activity over three days, conducted completely in American Sign Language (ASL). Western Oregon University will be holding its annual Silent Weekend from July 28th to 30th on campus. This weekend, conducted completely in American Sign Language (ASL), is for Deaf and hearing students, interpreters, interpreter educators, and ASL instructors. Attendees can choose from two

possible tracks with corresponding workshops. The first is interpreter professional development, which is for working and pre-professional interpreters. The second track is for students and community members to develop their ASL skills and learn linguistic features of the language. There will be opportunities to earn up to 1.7 CEUs during this weekend. If you are looking for some worthwhile workshops, some great entertainment, and a chance to sharpen your skills then Silent Weekend is for you!

We have an open call for Protactile language interpreter training applications RIGHT NOW.

This is for the Protactile Language Interpreting National Education Program Pilot - an intensive, immersive training with an onsite component and opportunity for applied experience in the DeafBlind community. (12.0 CEUs PS, PPO)

We are only focusing on building capacity in 9 states: CA, IL, LA, MA, MN, NC, NY, TX, and WA. We hope to select 2-3 folks per state for this first Pilot starting in early 2023. If you are someone who works with DeafBlind folks in one of these states, please apply! Applications close Friday, 11/18 at 11:59pm PT.
