Western Oregon University: Student Success and Advising Office

Western Oregon University: Student Success and Advising Office Student Success and Advising serves and supports students in developing collaborative relationships that foster student success

The Academic Advising and Learning Center is a dual focused department, split between WOU's General Academic Advising Center and the Learning Center which houses the University tutoring program. Our full time Academic Advising staff meets with students year round to discuss a variety to topics. Our office typically advises Exploratory Students, Education Students, First Year Pre-Nursing Students and any students with questions regarding general university requirements and the LACC's.

Students, we hope that you are having/have had a successful final's week at WOU! Here is our last Staff Member(s) of the Week:

Student Office Specialists Byron Gambol Agapay and Kellie Marie Woodward!

Both students are graduating this year, and will be participating in this year's Commencement Ceremony on June 11, 2016. Byron and Kellie started in the Academic Advising and Learning Center at the same time, so it is fitting that they leave our office together. As Office Specialists, Byron and Kellie enjoyed speaking with students while being able to provide them with resources and help with their academic journey.

Kellie's favorite part about working with the Academic Advising and Learning Center was having the opportunity to meet students.

Byron's favorite part about working with the Academic Advising and Learning Center was building relationships with the staff and students of WOU.

Congratulations to the both of you!

Fun Fact: Cassie lived in Spain for a year and a half before transferring to WOU! Talk about language immersion! We're so glad to have her as a resource for WOU students taking Spanish.

AALC Staff of the Week: Lizzy Balding

Lizzy is a Student Success Intern here at the advising center. She helps students who are at risk, having challenges in classes, or having test taking concerns.

We asked Lizzy to tell us something interesting about herself and this is what she told us: "I was born in Hawaii and love the beach! Also, my current favorite stress relief is coloring."

Our advising center is in the Academic Programs and Support Center, across from the Natural Science Building. Feel free to come in if you have any questions or concerns, or call us at (503)-838-8428.
