JUST THINKING...The Beautiful, Heavy Burden of the Well
​There is a quiet heartbreak unique to ministry: the moment you realize you were a stepping stone for someone who forgot to say thank you. You spend seasons praying over them, lifting them up when they are weary, and pouring your own limited oil into their lamps so they can shine. And then, the wind changes. They take the strength you helped them find, and they carry it somewhere else, leaving without a backward glance or a single word to encourage the heart that sustained them.
​It hurts. It feels like an empty well looking at the ones who drank their fill and walked away.

​But if you are facing that empty horizon today, remember this: Your calling was never tied to their gratitude. You were asked to plant seeds, not to own the harvest. When people jump ship, it doesn’t mean your investment was wasted; it means their season in your theater of grace has ended. Keep your heart soft, even when it feels bruised. The One who called you to pour will always be the One who refills your cup, even when the people you served forget to bring a pitcher. Blessings, Dr. Jan
