We get asked often what the assembly process is like for our Clear Flow Aquaponics systems? To explain this process we put together a timelapse video outlining our assembly process for our F5 Aquaponics System in our Aquaponics Showroom at our Montello, WI business campus.

We have worked hard to make the assembly process as easy as possible. We provide detailed manuals, images, and documents to provide our growers with as information as possible when it comes time for them to assemble their aquaponics system.

For this week's we are excited to share that we have added our first batch of plants to our showroom F5 Aquaponics System. We added 18 total plants in two varieties of lettuce. Lettuce is one of the best plants for aquaponics systems especially young systems that are fairly newly cycled. They are hardy, fast growers, that don't require high nutrient concentrations to grow successfully.

🌟“Gorgeous”… “Good Flavor”… “Local”🌟

Words used by Roothouse Aquaponics owner, Mike McGraw, to describe the produce grown in for the past 6 years in his Nelson and Pade Clear Flow Large Commercial with Living Filter Bed Aquaponic System®.

✨Mike’s exceptional management, combined with his use of our premium quality, non-GMO fish food, has produced outstanding results.

For this we take a look at our water quality data for the startup cycling of our showroom F5. We are excited that we are almost through our nitrogen cycling in our system and we will be adding plants slowly over the next few weeks!

When you start any kind of aquatic system with fish, whether it's an aquarium or an aquaponics system, you can expect the results that are shown in the graph. Initially you will see ammonia, then nitrite will come, and finally nitrate. We use these three parameters to determine when our system is ready for plants and to assess the water quality for the health of our fish. We are starting to see good nitrate levels in our system which means the system is getting close to cycled and ready for plants. You can learn more about the explanation of this cycle and its importance in many of our aquaponics courses.

We completed this startup system testing using the Aquaponics Water Quality Test Kit which is a multi-parameter test kit that includes most of the basic water testing needed for aquaponics systems. You can find out more about this test kit through the following link.

On this we are excited to share that we have seeded our first plants! We are starting with two proven varieties of lettuces that we have used in the past for our showroom F5 Aquaponics System.

We find that it is best to start plants from seed for the health of the aquaponics system and pest control. We use rockwool cubes to start our seeds. Rockwool cubes have a pre-placed hole for the seed to be placed within making the seeding process super simple and very efficient. Find out more about rockwool cubes through the following link.

It is also very important to label your seeds when you seed them. Each time you seed the labels should have at the very least the type of seed and the date seeded. We use the labels in the following link to help keep track of our seedlings.

These seeds will sit in our heated seed germination kit for 7-10 days to get big and strong before they are added to the showroom F5 Aquaponics System.
