Congratulations to Art major Stella Duren, this year’s winner of the Hazel Award in Drawing! Her graphite and white charcoal drawing on toned paper perfectly captures a contemplative moment of domestic life, with both technical skill and emotional connection.

Students can start planning for next year’s Hazel Awards, in both Drawing and Painting! Entries will be due on April 1st and must be artwork completed outside of classes. Many thanks to our benefactor, former Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Professor of Art, Ken Procter, who made this award possible. The award is named for his grandmother, Hazel Truth Shelhamer Procter, an accomplished artist, published author and illustrator, to recognize accomplishment and promote further achievement in the arts.
