We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Justin White as Visiting Instructor of Bands at the University of Montevallo.
P. Justin White recently earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting from the University of Georgia, where he studied with Nicholas Enrico Williams. Prior to his doctoral studies, he served as Interim Director of Bands at Sam Houston State University, Samford University, and Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Alabama. A native of Alabama, Dr. White holds degrees from the University of Alabama and the University of North Texas, where he studied conducting with Nicholas Enrico Williams, Dennis Fisher, and Eugene Migliaro Corporon.
In 2020, Dr. White was named winner of The American Prize in Conducting (Winds Division) and recognized as the Outstanding Young Band Director by the Alabama Chapter of Phi Beta Mu. He also earned distinction as the North American Regional Winner of the World Music Contest Conducting Competition, representing the United States at the international finals in Kerkrade in 2017. The Alabama Music Educators Association selected him as the 2018 Outstanding Young Music Educator, and later that year, he was invited to conduct the United States Coast Guard Band during a clinic with H. Robert Reynolds at the Midwest Clinic. Dr. White began his teaching career at Thompson High School, a position he holds near and dear to his heart. 💜💛
