Come learn more about how you can get involved in exciting research opportunities across campus. Propose a project, get course credit, receive up to $125 in supplies and have a chance to earn a $500 scholarship and a $400 travel award to present your work. All majors are welcome. The University of Montevallo maintained its investment-grade rating and a stable outlook from Standard & Poor’s Rating Services in an August 2026 universal credit review. S&P affirmed its A-credit rating for the University, which is an investment-grade rating and within the strong category in the ratings system.

“We’re incredibly proud to retain our S&P investment-grade rating,” said UM President Michelle Johnston. “The University of Montevallo has a unique mission in higher education in the state of Alabama, and we are getting a lot of attention for being the only college in the state ranked in the top 10 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Value rankings in each of the past five years. That recognition reflects how focused we are on what matters most — sending graduates into the world equipped by a liberal arts education to lead in their professions, serve their communities and thrive in their personal lives.”

There's a big week ahead for the University of Montevallo and the Birmingham Barons! ⚾🎉

We’re kicking things off on Sept. 8 with a special pre-game panel focused on women making an impact in the sports industry. Known for her role on Netflix’s “Last Chance U” and her work as an author and motivational speaker, UM business instructor Brittany Wagner will join other women leaders in sports at Regions Field for a conversation about careers in broadcasting, coaching, athletics, entrepreneurship and sports business.

We'll be back at the ballpark on Sept. 10 for Soaring with the Barons, hosted by the UMNAA Jefferson County Alumni Club. Come reconnect with fellow alumni, cheer on the Barons and enjoy a great night of baseball — including UM president Dr. Michelle Johnston throwing the first pitch! Event includes a game ticket, refreshments, an alumni goody and more.
