Shout out time!

These 4 awesome Chippewa County 4-Her's spent the last couple of months taking part in the MN 4-H Ag Ed Leaders in the Classroom program! They met 4 times virtually in Feburary with other 4-H Ag Ed Leaders from across the state to learn all about this years topic all about beef titled, Beef: A Journey from Pasture to Plate.

Throughout their learning sessions, they dove deeper into the curriculum that was used to introduce students to the complex beef production system and the wide range of careers in Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences through hands-on, collaborative learning that builds agricultural literacy, critical thinking skills, and an understanding of food production, while preparing students to be informed consumers and responsible community members.

Then in April and May, our Ag Ed Leaders went to 3 classrooms at the MACCRAY elementary school to share their knowledge and skills! Thank you to Mrs. Westbrock, Mrs. Torkelson, and Mrs. Klaassen for letting them join your classrooms!

Way to take on this awesome leadership opportunity with 4-H and excel! Thank you Keeley J., Ellie B., Maverick K., and Cooper K.!

As our local schools start to wrap things up for the year, we want to extened our congratulations to this years graduates that are also Chippewa 4-H members! We wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors, and can't wait to have you join 4-H as alumni and volunteers someday!

Congratulations to the 2026 recipients of the Ron Ochsendorf Legacy Grant!

Legacy- an inheritance, a tradition, a bequest, a heritage.

Ron Ochsendorf passed away unexpectedly in December 2014. He was a pillar in the Chippewa 4-H program and the Chippewa County Fair Board. Ron was active in 4-H, coached the livestock judging team, and mentored many kids in livestock projects. He especially enjoyed time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren show cattle. They spent many years going to cattle shows at the MN State Fair and to Omaha.

In memory of Ron, Chippewa 4-H and the Ochsendorf Family started a Legacy Fund. The fund will help advance the work of Chippewa 4-H livestock youth by providing funds to make capital purchases for their 4-H projects where that 4-Her would not otherwise be able to fund the purchase. Examples include breeding stock, large show equipment, gates, housing improvements and more. The purpose of the fund is to encourage, teach and support the next generation.

Thank you to all who applied, the selection committee, and the Ochsendorf family for providing Chippewa County youth with this opportunity! Congratulations to Joelle, Addison, and Olivia!

What a fun group of MACCRAY Community Education babysitters! They did a great job learning about everything from safety and first aid, nutrition, ages and stages, baby care, and everything in between! Lots of awesome future babysitters in this bunch!
