Did you know? Before calling its current campus home, AUM first opened its doors in September 1969, welcoming nearly 600 students at the old Alabama Extension Center near Maxwell Air Force Base.

From where we started to where we are today—the Warhawk story continues. 🧡🦅

🎭 Congratulations to Val Winkelman (third from right), Distinguished Research Professor in AUM’s Department of Communication and Theatre, on receiving the 2026 Marian Gallaway Award for Contributions to Theatre in Alabama from the Alabama Conference of Theatre!

Winkelman has built a distinguished career as a theatre educator, designer and leader at the state and national levels. She becomes the third Theatre AUM faculty or staff member to receive the Marian Gallaway Award, joining Katie Pearson (2018) and Neil David Seibel (2020).

All-In For AUM, a yearly fundraising campaign for AUM Athletics, is underway!

This campaign assists the department in elevating the student-athlete experience, including team travel, providing nutritious meals for performance and recovery, upgrading athletic facilities, and creating leadership and personal development opportunities that extend far beyond competition.
