The Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics Center™ (STREAM™ Center)
Faulkner University’s College of Education houses the STREAM™ Center which serves as the intersection of the various departments across campus as well as other external entities to collaborate to improve and expand opportunities in STEM education. Working with P-12 students, teacher candidates, ed

ucators, parents, industry leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, and the general public, the STREAM™ Center utilizes best practices, research, and resources to support projects and offer professional development to support and improve traditional STEAM teaching and learning. The STREAM™ Center serves pre-service teacher candidates, faculty, P-12 students, and a diverse group of educators, community members, community organizations, and business leaders from around the region. The center promotes the use of research to inform the integration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Focus is placed on the recruitment of women, first generation college students, and students from lower socio-economic backgrounds to participate in and lead STREAM Center initiatives. The goal is to enrich the preparation of a diverse group of individuals from early childhood, primary, secondary, and post secondary through to the work force in STEM related fields.

The State Board of Education adopted the new Alabama Course of Study for Science this morning at the monthly board meeting.

The STREAM™ Center faculty of Faulkner University were excited to participate with Compassion 21 on the Day of Service in the River Region. Plans are being made to partner on future endeavors.

CURRENT EVENTS: The STREAM™ Center began STREAMing knowledge to the River Region this summer. Dr. Tammy Brown, Dean of the College of Education presented a professional development work day to Alabama Christian Academy professionals on assessment. Collaboration continues as STREAM™ Center professionals work together throughout the school year.

UPDATE: Since the unveiling of the new STREAM™ Center in early March of this year, STREAM™ is moving forward. We were excited recently to be able to offer some teaching materials to home-school parents and church organizations this past summer. Watch for more upcoming events. Share the STREAM™ Center with others.
