Spring 2020 Newsletter
An Introductory Message from our Commander Mac McNeilly
I hope you and your family are safe and healthy during these uncertain times. Please allow me to introduce you to Sigma Nu at Huntingdon College. It continues to be an honor to serve as commander of our Nu Beta chapter. My brothers and I wanted to share some of our accomplishments while learning and growing together. This newsletter is designed to engage more with our ever-growing alumni base, and to update parents on the investment that your Son is making. COVID-19 has been such a tragedy for so many and has certainly impacted our lives as we continue distance learning. Please rest assured that the Executive Council and I are working diligently to provide support, development, and some fun for every stakeholder in our chapter. If you have any questions about anything please reach out.
Service and Philanthropy
Two years ago, one of our objectives was to establish an annual philanthropic event that would both help someone in need , and be a lot of fun for the chapter. As most of you may know, a beloved member of our Huntingdon family, Bennetta Carter of our campus dining hall, lost her husband and home in a devastating fire in 2019. Many student organizations rallied and provided some relief for her four young children left behind. Nu Beta staged a “Celebrity” Softball game with rosters comprised of leaders from student organizations, teachers, faculty, and members of the Montgomery community that raised over $600. Earlier this year, we also raised over $1,500 for the Carter family with a second annual game. We would thank everyone for their continued support as we continue to try to find ways to give back to the community. Special thanks to the event coordinator, our Chaplain Jordan Turner (Sr.) who worked all day and night to make sure the event went well. We hope to bring this back in 2021 and help others in need.
Campus Leadership
The Nu Beta Chapter has always excelled at campus leadership and we hope all concerned share in our pride about 2020. We had nine members as a part of student government, multiple brothers inducted into honor societies such as Order of Omega (Greek Honor Society), Gamma Sigma Alpha (Greek Academic Honor Society), Omicron Delta Kappa (Leadership Honor Society), as well as multiple academic departmental honor societies including religion, business, and biology.

Pierce will be attending law school at Faulkner University next fall.

All three of these guys leave big shoes to fill for the younger members of our chapter, and we look forward to seeing what they’ll do in life.
