Congratulations to our faculty and graduate student who recently represented the us at the 2026 Joint Meeting of the International Society of Forest Resource Economics ( ) & Western Forest Economists ( ) in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dr. Nana Tian presented research from the USDA Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) project, highlighting how major bottomland hardwood oak species may respond to future climate change scenarios and the use of machine learning models for growth and carbon estimation.
Dr. Shaun Tanger shared research exploring how property taxation concerns influence forest landowner participation in property tax and carbon market programs and the role those programs play in long-term forest management decisions.
A special congratulations goes to graduate student Sujata Shrestha, who presented her research, “What Drives Oak Timber Prices? Evidence from Arkansas Timber Markets,” and earned Second Runner-Up in the Student Presentation Competition. Sujata’s work, under the guidance of Dr. Sagar Godar Chhetri, examined historical Arkansas oak timber markets and the economic and ecological factors influencing price trends.
We are proud to see our faculty and students sharing impactful research and representing the university so well on a national stage.
