It may be the first weekend of the fall semester, but it was the first for several members of the Eagle TALONS Program. They showed up for Evergreen and MSU Evergreen’s GSC food forest workday at Bluebell Island and helped do some maintenance of the property. Great job, Eagles!

The members of the Eagle TALONS Program would like to thank the Morehead State University Police Department for the work they do in keeping our campus safe. We respect, honor, and remember your courage and sacrifices this National Police Week.

Today marks the start of National Police Week. During this week, we pay tribute to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The week began in 1962, when President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week.

Over the last five weeks, the MSU campus community, through the work of the program, has been collecting both monetary and in-kind donations to support the work of , a non-profit that serves local families and seniors in need during the holidays. Through the generosity of our employees and students, we were able to fill over three housing carts with toys, blankets, and games and collected a substantial amount of monetary gifts. On behalf of the Eagle TALONS Program, we would like to thank our campus for their bounteous giving. Thank you for making the holidays a little brighter for others in our community. It’s always a great day to be an Eagle!

On this dreary Thursday, let’s meet our resident Batman fanatic, Jacob Hatfield. A freshman from Belfry, KY, Jacob is majoring in criminology with minors in both integrated and computer science. In his spare time, Jacob enjoys playing video games and going to the recreation center. He joined the TALONS Program to join a community of like-minded civically engaged students. Jacob hopes to one day serve as a KSP officer.
