General information

The Morehead Black Men’s Initiative known as MEN (Men’s Empowerment Network) is an interactive leadership and personal development program provided by the Office of Minority Academic and Retention Services. This initiative provides academic and social support for young black males as they transition in college at Morehead State University. The program provides its members with specific resources needed to successfully overcome challenges to the attainment of college degrees. MEN aims to foster a proactive environment for leadership and success through the utilization of leadership training, conferences, guest speakers, workshops, social activities, community service and more. The goal of MEN is for members to graduate from college within the standard time period as successful academic, social and community leaders. There are three pillars (MEN) that guide the operation of the program: Mentoring (Support), Engagement (Involvement), and Networking (Development). • Our students are supported through the mentoring program where they will meet frequently with their faculty/staff mentor to allow time for goal setting, academic progress monitoring, and overall support. • There are various opportunities for the students to get engaged with the program and their peers by attending various campus lectures and events, and exposure to campus resources. • The students have the opportunity to network through various events with faculty/staff, community leaders, and distinguished black alumni while also participating in various leadership development activities and community service projects.
