Heat indices will reach between 100 and 105 degrees Friday and Saturday afternoon. An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening for areas generally along and north of the Mountain Parkway.

Watch the weather forecasts Sunday - be

One or two rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening. At this time, it appears that the greatest threat for severe thunderstorms will be from roughly 3 PM to 10 PM EDT, though isolated strong to severe cannot be ruled out during the morning as well. The primary severe weather threat will be damaging wind gusts that could lead to power outages. Large hail is also possible. A couple of tornadoes cannot be ruled out. There remains uncertainty in the evolution of this system and residents of Eastern KY should monitor later forecasts and updates as timing and threats become more certain.

Pay attention to weather alerts today and throughout evening, there is a chance for an isolated tornado.

A line of thunderstorms could bring a threat of damaging winds, and perhaps an isolated tornado, this evening. The severe weather threat has been extended eastward and now includes all of eastern Kentucky. The strongest thunderstorm wind gusts will be capable of downing trees and power lines, which could lead to power outages.
