The heat is on as students in our Fireground Ops. 9 class started their first of several live fire training sessions last night. Our Tanker Task Force Training class is supporting our ops. 9 class with water due to our ESTC hydrant system being out of service. We have a unique training opportunity coming up over the next few weeks! While our ESTC water distribution system is being repaired, we have the need for mobile water supplies to support our Fireground Ops. 9 class.
We are delivering a simulated Tanker Task Force Training opportunity towards providing our local and regional partners with the challenge of shuttling water from static water sources to the ESTC for live fire training.
The dates listed are for the days we need an apparatus, tankers, and personnel wanting to serve as the Tanker Task Force for the class. If your department wishes to participate from throughout the region please contact Instructor Harry Brittain at 828-334-5888 to sign up for any of the dates listed. Engine Pumper tankers or tankers are requested.

From the "Did you know" files...

The NC Community College Fire & Rescue programs do not qualify for many of the state and federal grants by the NCOSFM or NC Rescue Squad Assoc. since we are not a response agency.

This presents a significant challenge on our ability as the delivery agency for state & federal certifications to have funds needed to provide even the most the basic equipment (like fire apparatus) to deliver quality classes. Many colleges depend upon their community responders to help provide equipment needs as our budgets are mostly dedicated towards supporting instructional expenses and maintenance.
We are truly grateful for the many donations we receive from our local & state partners, & equipment sponsors towards our WPCC Foundation & ESTC.
As we start our relocation process next month to our new training facility, we anticipate several logistical needs going forward.
If your agency received a grant towards replacing equipment or apparatus, please consider donating your pre-owned materials to our training program or selling your apparatus to our college. We have a significant need for a fully equipped pumping apparatus that will pass a pump test to be used for live fire training at our new facility. Your consideration & support is greatly appreciated in training WNC's Bravest!.
