Could you imagine a prosthetic that feels completely natural?

Sergiy Yakovenko’s lab at WVU School of Medicine is working to make it happen. By using virtual reality to gamify training and flexible wearable sensors for real-time feedback, their research is helping people with lower-leg prosthetics walk safely and restore natural abilities.

When the College of Applied Human Sciences partnered with Kanawha County Schools to bring a cohort of teachers into the online Master's in Literacy Education program, the goal was clear: improve reading literacy across the county and make a lasting impact. This weekend, that cohort of teachers graduated with a Master's in Literacy Education from WVU. The teachers did the work. The partnership held up its end. Now those classrooms have something more to offer.
