West Virginia University- Occupational Therapy The WVU Division of OT offers two fully accredited degree programs (MOT and OTD) to prepare students entering the profession.

With highly qualified and experienced faculty, students benefit from hands-on experiential learning. Hello and welcome to the West Virginia University Division of Occupational Therapy. at West Virginia University graduated its first class of students in May 1999. Over 350 students have graduated from our Program and have moved on to very rewarding professional careers as Occupational Therapists.

πŸ–ŠοΈ We're excited to share a new publication co-authored by two Occupational Therapy graduates, Giorgi Morone, OTD, OTR/L, and Loryn Frame, OTD, OTR/L, and an OT faculty member Jacob Greenfield, EdD, OTD, OTR/L, ATRIC, CSRS, CSOT, CBIS, in partnership with colleagues from other academic departments.
πŸ“Š The study explored healthcare experiences among marginalized populations in North Central Appalachia and found that all participants reported experiences of discrimination, stigmatization, or judgment in healthcare settings. The findings emphasize the importance of respectful, inclusive care and strong provider-patient relationships.

We’re celebrating our wonderful OT student, Elizabeth Elmore, as she heads back to school for the fall semester!

Elizabeth has been such a wonderful addition to our Madison Nursing & Rehab family. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication to our residents have made a lasting impression, and we’re so grateful for all the time and hard work she has shared with us.

Pictured here with her clinical instructor, Hope, Elizabeth has been learning, growing, and gaining valuable experience that will help her continue on her journey toward becoming an amazing occupational therapist. 🩡

πŸ–οΈ Meet Randy, Kayla, and Ava!
Over the past 1️⃣2️⃣ weeks, Randy and Kayla have provided level 2 clinical instruction for Ava as she transitioned from classroom to clinical practice.

Under Randy & Kayla’s supervision and mentorship, Ava had the opportunity to help patients recover after injuries to the arm and hand which can impact many areas of life, including work, daily routines, and recreational activities.

πŸ‘‹ Meet Rachel! She served as a clinical educator for the last twelve weeks as Nicole transitioned from classroom to clinical practice. At UH Portage, Nicole had the opportunity to practice occupational therapy in an outpatient clinic with Rachel’s guidance, support, and supervision.

πŸ’«Pediatric occupational therapists help children meet developmental milestones, overcome sensory challenges and improve self-care, play, and self-regulation skills.
