WVU Reed School of Media and Communications The WVU Reed School of Media and Communications has been graduating journalists and strategic communicators since 1939.

While rooted in tradition, the School of Media and Communications also offers an innovative curriculum and real-world experiences that prepare students for careers in today's media industry. The School is currently home to five on-campus majors, including Advertising and Public Relations, Interactive Design for Media, Journalism, Multidisciplinary Media Studies and the one-of-a-kind Sports and Adv

enture Media. A pioneer in online graduate education, the School launched the nation’s first completely online master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) in 2003. Since then, we have developed an online bachelor’s degree in IMC and master’s degree programs in Data Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing Communications and Media Solutions and Innovation. The School is known for its innovative course delivery and ability to build community in the classroom and beyond. In all programs at the School of Media and Communications, our students learn by doing, producing stories and projects for professional clients and using the latest digital media technology. Emma Fleming, a member of the Honors College from Parkersburg, is graduating with dual degrees in English and multidisciplinary media studies, with minors in journalism, entertainment media and strategic social media. Congratulations to Emma and all of our 2026 Outstanding Seniors!

Six members of the West Virginia University Class of 2026 and two December 2025 graduates have earned the Order of Augusta, the University’s most prestigious honor for academic excellence, leadership and service. The eight inductees were selected from the 52 WVU Foundation Outstanding Seniors.
