WVU LGBTQ Center

WVU LGBTQ Center The WVU LGBTQ+ Center works to improve the climate for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students, faculty and staff.

Since established in 2016, the WVU LGBTQ+ Center offers inclusive programming and outreach initiatives for WVU students, faculty and staff. We support the University’s land-grant mission and larger social justice efforts by providing outreach, education, advocacy and engagement. We help WVU establish a leadership role in the state and among our peer institutions on matters related to gender and se

xuality. OUTREACH:
We develop programming and outreach for LGBTQ students, staff, faculty and community members. We help build coalitions that cross units, encourage university-wide inclusiveness and support social justice initiatives. We celebrate the diversity of our communities and encourage collaborations that make intersecting identities more visible, including sexuality, gender expression, gender identity, race, ethnicity, social class, language, religion, disability and region. EDUCATION:
We provide academic and curricular support to develop LGBTQ-related research projects and grants, teaching materials, courses and conferences, as well as organize events that encourage student well-being and academic achievement. ADVOCACY:
We advocate for members of the LGBTQ community and their allies. We serve as Title IX Confidential Resources. We help the University identify, monitor and assess best practices in programming and policy to ensure an inclusive atmosphere. ENGAGEMENT:
We serve as the hub of the social, intellectual and physical community for members of the LGBTQ community and their allies.

Then, 5/5 from 1:00-6:00 on the Mountainlair Green, the LGBTQ+ Club invites everyone to "Don't Dye During Finals!" This completely free event will provide all attendants with a white WVU PRIDE Shirt and/or a blank tote bag (while supplies last) so y'all can let loose and have some fun!

And last but not least, on 5/13 from 11:00-3:00 in front of the Lair, the LGBTQ+ Center will be joining in the GradFest Celebration! Come grab your rainbow graduation cords if you haven't already, schedule some professional photos, hang with the Mountaineer Mascott, and more! Learn all about it at gradfest.wvu.edu.
