HEY HANCOCK COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS!

The Division of Workforce Training is bringing a certified nursing aide (CNA) class to you!

The class starts July 21, with an information session on June 10, from 1-3 p.m. at Hancock County Hospital. A representative from the American Jobs Center will be on hand to determine if funds are available to assist you in taking this class. A limited amount of grant funding may be able to pay the cost of $899 for some students. also pay for the class.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TENNESSEE!

The volunteer state became the 16th state when George Washington signed the official statehood document on this date in 1796. Tennessee is 230 years old today.

Among the many great things to come out of Tennessee are Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect, last-dollar scholarships that made Tennessee the first state to offer free tuition to a majority of students.

Despite a valiant effort, Walters State lost on Monday in the double-elimination JUCO World Series. Walters State will play No. 3 Midland on Tuesday afternoon at 2 pm MT in an elimination game.

The JUCO World Series opened with the fourth-seated Walters State defeating the seventh-seeded Seminole State, 16-15. What a wild game. Senators come out on top!

Walters State will be back in action on Monday evening, taking on top-seeded Johnson County at 6 pm MT at Sam Suplizio Field.
