Clayton State students are exploring the future of mental health care.🧠🧡💙

Thanks to support from a Clayton State strategic plan innovation grant, Psychology students had the opportunity to attend the National Alliance on Mental Illness annual conference, NAMICon 2026, in Atlanta alongside Dr. Samuel Maddox and Dr. Pinar Gurkas.

Through sessions on youth mental health, peer support, and equity in care, students gained valuable insight into research, advocacy, and mental health policy while networking with professionals dedicated to improving mental health systems and reducing stigma.

The future of STEM is looking bright! 🔬🧪

Last week, high school students got a glimpse into the world of microscopy during Clayton State’s Science Summer Camp.

Through the “Hidden World: Exploring Life Under the Microscope” session, students gained hands-on laboratory experience, explored life at the microscopic level, and learned about career opportunities in STEM fields from Dr. Clint Edmunds, Dr. Paul Melvin, and Dr. Vivian Padín-Irizarry.

Science and soccer came together at Clayton State! ⚽🔬🧡💙

As excitement builds around the FIFA World Cup in Atlanta, students attending our College of STEM Science Summer Camp had the chance to meet Clayton State men’s soccer players George Roke from England and Fallah Johnson from Liberia.

The student-athletes shared soccer skills, talked about their experiences competing at the collegiate level, and discussed what it was like coming to Clayton State from different parts of the world to pursue their education and compete in their sport.

🐕🤖 AI in action!

Students participating in Clayton State University’s 2026 Artificial Intelligence Study for Earth Exploration (AISEE) Summer Camp gained hands-on experience programming and operating remote-controlled robot dogs.

Funded by NASA, the AISEE Summer Academy introduces minority high school students to artificial intelligence, NASA research, Earth science data, and real-world problem-solving through immersive experiences.

These experiences highlight the innovative learning opportunities available through Clayton State University’s College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (CSTEM).
