This term, our Juniors read the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid. Tracing the blueprint of epic from Homer to Vergil reveals that philosophy was changing in the pagan world. Homer’s heroes are focused inwards, but Aeneas fixes his eyes on things outside of himself—the gods, Ascanius, future Romans, etc. Vergil realized that life is bigger than the individual, a much more Christian idea than kleos or nostos.

While Vergil is still far from the truth in many ways, God was certainly pulling his work closer to Christianity to prepare the world for the coming of Christ.

At NSA, we train our students to build culture—not a culture that is focused on them and their wonderful deeds, but one that honors God and obeys Him above all else.

"Americans are less inclined than ever to view the medical system favorably. The widespread erosion of trust in medical authority mirrors a similar loss of trust in other institutions, but the damage suffered by the medical establishment’s reputation during the COVID era — largely, one might say, through wounds of its own making — seems to be on a wholly different level.

According to a survey of nearly a half million respondents polled across the COVID years, the proportion of Americans with a favorable view of “physicians and hospitals” fell at an astonishing rate from 71.5% to 40.2% between April 1, 2020, and January 31, 2024.1

If you are a vaccine developer or a politician with totalitarian leanings, the decline of the medical industrial complex in the public eye is an unmitigated disaster. For Christians trying to think faithfully about modern medicine, however, this moment brings opportunities for improved clarity with regard to what a reasonable expectation for medicine is."
