Alumni Spotlight Caterina Martineau Class of 22
Who—instructor, staffer, teammate, etc that made an impact on you at WVC
Olivia Butterworth made one of the greatest impacts on my experience at Wabash. She was someone whose door was always open, whether you needed to talk about soccer or life outside of the field. She pushed each of us to give everything we had during practices/games and was never afraid to speak her mind when it mattered. She also genuinely cared about the team taking the fall for us whenever we were in the wrong, checking in on us at our apartments, and always finding ways to make us laugh. She led with both strength and compassion, and showed me what it truly means to be a captain. Her leadership set the example I carried with me when I stepped into that role the following year.
Where—where are you at today
Currently, I have moved across the country to Gilbert, Arizona, where I am obtaining my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I will graduate in 2027 with the intentions on working in outpatient orthopedics with a focus on sport rehabilitation.
Why—why you chose WVC
I chose Wabash because I was looking for another chance to continue to compete in the sport I love. The little girl in me dreamed for the day I could play at the collegiate level. Pat took a chance on me that I will forever be grateful for.
What—1 memory
My favorite memory at Wabash was my freshman year after a snowstorm hit. That night me and a bunch of girls on the team went sledding. Those memories made off the field bonding with the team were always just as important as the moments on the field. I even met my best friends here - Anna, Larry, and Kyra. You never realize how much you take the time at Wabash for granted until you are gone. 🤍
