Starting the Year Strong!

Our Traditional Education majors kicked off the year by reviewing program expectations, upcoming events, and opportunities for involvement. Students also watched a video highlighting the challenges and rewards of the teaching profession.

We’re excited for a great year of learning, growing, and preparing the next generation of educators!

The University of Mount Olive School of Education is starting a “clothing closet” for our education majors who might need professional clothing for practicum and student teaching experiences. If you or someone you know are cleaning out your closet and have “teacher clothes” that you are ready to part with, we would love to take it off your hands! We need things for both guys and girls! Emily Broshious, a spring 2026 graduate of the University of Mount Olive in Agricultural Education, was selected as a Top Ten finalist for the 2026 NCACTE Student Teacher of the Year Award, a statewide honor recognizing outstanding teacher candidates in North Carolina. Congratulations, Emily! We are proud of you!

The UMO School of Education welcomed our newest education majors at our New Student Meet & Greet!

Our new students had the opportunity to connect with education faculty and upperclassmen, enjoy ice cream sandwiches, and have some fun playing Human Bingo. We are excited to welcome these future educators to the UMO family and look forward to all they will accomplish! 💚

For the fourth consecutive year, the University of Mount Olive Reading Clinic has received support from the Anonymous Trust!📚

The funding will help UMO education majors continue providing individualized literacy support to local elementary students while gaining valuable hands-on classroom experience.
