🎨Art highlight from our Permanent Collection: George E. Ohr, "The Mad Potter of Biloxi" was born in Mississippi in 1857. He became known for his unique work that few potters have been able to replicate.

Ohr created many ceramic pieces during his lifetime. In both museums and private collections, nearly every Ohr pot is "untitled" and/or dated "circa" (ca)- latin for approximately, to signify the short period between 1895-1905, when his works were known to be created.

Art Credit: George E. Ohr, 1857 - 1918, “no title (Two Handled Vase)” ca. 1900, clay with glaze, 8.25 in. x 4.25 in. x 3.5 in.). Purchase, 1978.
