Wellness is kicking off the year strong!

M1 and M2 students stepped away from the books and into a little friendly fitness time. Because taking care of yourself is an important part of taking care of others — and sometimes, a workout is just what you need to recharge.

Here’s to a healthy, active year ahead.

Thank you to MP Fit Club & Studio for hosting.

“Because the purpose of this education was never to make you better than others. It was to make you better for others.”

What a meaningful message for the Class of 2030.

Kristen Carrillo-Kappus, M.D., a 2020 graduate of the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University, returned to campus as our White Coat Ceremony keynote speaker.

Dr. Carrillo-Kappus reminded our newest medical students that their journey will not always go as planned, but those who continue learning, remain humble and remember their purpose will be prepared to meet the challenges ahead.

Thank you, Dr. Carrillo-Kappus, for returning to your alma mater and sharing your wisdom with the next generation of physicians.

The White Coat Ceremony, celebrated on Aug. 14, may have been the highlight of the final day of Orientation Week, but the celebration continued at our college open house.

Students, family members, friends and guests gathered to congratulate our newest medical students, offer words of encouragement and celebrate this important milestone. It was also a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to meet one another and become part of the community supporting the Class of 2030.

During orientation week, the Covenant HealthCare College of Medicine at Central Michigan University paused to remember Jack Furnari, a member of the college’s inaugural class who left a lasting impact on those around him.

The Jack Furnari Memorial Leadership Award honors Jack’s legacy by recognizing incoming medical students who demonstrate the compassion, character and values he embodied. Recipients are selected through an essay contest and receive a new stethoscope engraved with “Be COMpassionate” — a lasting reminder of the way Jack lived his life and approached his medical career.

Congratulations to the Class of 2030 recipients:

Rima Abdulrahman
Elise Ingalla
Gavin Raab

Their thoughtful essays left a lasting impression and reflect the qualities that make this tradition so meaningful.

We are honored to celebrate these students and continue Jack’s legacy as they begin their journey toward becoming physicians.
