Join us for our first meeting of the semester TOMORROW Saoud Sultan Alsulaiti in Pearce 227

Tomorrow’s meeting will be very laid back as we reconnect with existing members and welcome new members to our chapter. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and discover what GIS is all about!

We will end our meeting by carpooling to Doozies for our annual ice cream social! (As a reminder, buying ice cream is not required but if you would like to, please bring cash as Doozies is cash only.)

With graduation around the corner we wanted to recognize our Spring 2026 Gamma graduates!

Paul has been a Gamma member since Fall 2024 and has served as our SGA Representative over the past 2 semesters. Thank you Paul for your contribution to Gamma over the past 2 years, you will be missed and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish in the future!

Shamita has been a member of Gamma for 3 years and has recently been elected as our treasurer for the 2026-2027 school year. Although she won’t be leaving us this semester as she will be continuing her education at CMU to pursue her masters, we still wanted to congratulate her for completing her undergraduate degree!

Congratulations graduates and thank you for all you’ve contributed to our chapter!

⭐️Last meeting of the semester ⭐️

Tonight’s meeting will be a movie night starting at 6:30 PM in Pearce 227. We’ll be watching Along Came Polly, which features a main character who works as an actuary!

With exams coming up, this meeting is a chance to relax, work on assignments, and hang out with everyone before finals start.

Last night our chapter celebrated the end of the semester with our annual banquet. We connected and reflected on all of our goals and accomplishments over the past semester with our members and faculty. While ending the night with paper plate awards created by our Co-Presidents, Cassie and Jacob.

⭐️Alumni Appreciation ⭐️

Our last Gamma alumni we’d like to highlight this month is Alex Wuerfel. Alex is a 2020 CMU graduate with a B.S. in Actuarial Science. He is currently the VP of Operations & Development at Lighthouse Title Group. It’s always great to see chapter alumni who have branched outside of actuarial work!

Thanks for volunteering to be highlighted this month. We look forward to staying connected in the future!

Tonight’s meeting will be at 7 PM in Pearce 227. We’ll be doing an interactive underwriting activity where, in groups, you’ll work through different scenarios and decide which lines of business you would write (or not) and why. This will be a super fun way to learn more about underwriting and interact with others. As always, there will be pizza.

Yesterday morning, 7 of our chapter members had the opportunity to tour the Accident Fund Insurance Office in Lansing Michigan.

Throughout our tour we learned about the history of Accident Fund, as well as basic actuarial and insurance principles presented by AF employees themselves!

This was one of our most engaging events to date, as we finished our tour with a Q&A from AF actuaries and underwriters!

Thank you to Accident Fund for providing our members with this opportunity and thank you to everyone who participated.

⭐️Alumni Appreciation⭐️

Our next highlight of the month is Julia Plotkowski. She is a 2024 CMU alumni with a B.S. in Actuarial Science & Statistics and minors in Computer Science & Mathematics. She is currently working as an Actuarial Associate at Jackson Insurance and is in the process of obtaining her ASA. Keep up the great work Julia!

Tonight’s meeting will be at 7 PM in Pearce 227. We will have a speaker presenting professional competency training focused on how gender, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ identities connect to the workplace.

It is meant to be an introduction for everyone, so no prior knowledge is needed. Please dress business casual and come ready to listen and learn.
