What happens when curiosity turns into a career?

For Abu Amin, it started with a research project as an undergraduate student. The experience of asking a question, gathering data and contributing new knowledge sparked a passion that continues to shape his teaching and research today.

Now a finance professor at Central Michigan University, Amin explores questions related to corporate governance, accountability, sustainability and ethical decision-making. But what I found most interesting in our conversation was how closely he connects those ideas to student success.

"I want students to think critically about corporate behavior, governance, and accountability, the same questions that drive my research," he said.

His advice for students is refreshingly simple: Stay curious. Work hard. Be humble. Embrace AI, but remember that technology is only part of the equation.

As Amin puts it, "AI amplifies the person using it. Technology changes; good judgment and integrity do not."

The CMU College of Business Administration communications team is looking for our next graphic designer!

First, huge appreciation to Jayden Ellsworth, who has done incredible work helping elevate the visual identity and storytelling of the college. Their creativity, care and talent have made a lasting impact on our team and our brand, and while we’re sad to see them go, we’re excited for what comes next for them.

Now, we’re looking for someone new to step into this role and join our collaborative and creative team.

This position is a great fit for someone who:
• loves thoughtful, audience-centered design
• enjoys balancing creativity with strategy
• can take feedback and run with it
• likes working with people and bringing ideas to life
• wants to help tell meaningful student, faculty and alumni stories
• enjoys variety and creative problem-solving

This could be an amazing opportunity for the right entry-level candidate looking to grow, or for a more experienced designer interested in the benefits of university work while still getting to do meaningful, creative projects.

We genuinely love what we do, and we care deeply about building a supportive, collaborative team culture where people can grow, experiment and contribute their ideas.

If that sounds like your kind of environment, we’d love to see your application.

The Graphic Design Coordinator communicates the CMU College of Business Administration (CBA) story through strategic, audience-focused visual design across digital and print platforms. This role blends design ex*****on with problem-solving, collaboration, and content understanding to create effectiv...

ā€œFor my whole life, I was told that college might not be possible for me due to my disability.ā€

Instead of letting those doubts define her future, accelerated MBA student Jade Walleman transformed her experiences into a mission centered on accessibility, advocacy and leadership.

What happens when students help shape the future of their college?

The CMU College of Business Administration’s Dean’s Student Advisory Board gives students a direct voice in conversations about student experience, leadership and the future of the college.

Members of the board collaborate with college leadership, share feedback, explore solutions and help represent the perspectives of their peers across the CBA community.

ā€œI joined the Dean’s student advisory board to help make the place I love, Grawn Hall, a better place for students so they can feel like they belong,ā€ said Jaclyn Serazio, a marketing and logistics management student. ā€œI knew that my voice as a student would be heard on this board and I could make a positive impact on my learning environment.ā€

This spring, students also connected with alumni and business leaders during a networking lunch held alongside the Executive Advisory Board’s campus visit to CMU. We've included a few highlight photos.

What happens when classroom learning meets real-world supply chain experience?

CMU alumnus Chris Savelle, a Global Supply Manager at Lucid Motors, returned to campus this spring to speak with SCMA members about global logistics, automotive supply chains and the realities of working in a rapidly changing industry.

From navigating disruptions and shifting freight routes to discussing the importance of curiosity, adaptability and professional relationships, Savelle helped students connect classroom concepts to the decisions shaping global supply chains every day.

Through workshops like this, students gain more than industry insight, they build connections that help bridge the gap between college and career.
