100 years ago TODAY, our story began. ❤️💛

On Sept. 7, 1926, Mount Vernon Junior College opened its doors for its first day of classes. A century later, that small junior college has grown into the Skagit Valley College we know today.

As we mark exactly 100 years, SVC President Dr. Thomas Keegan shares a message of gratitude to the students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and community members who have shaped our college across generations.

Thank you for being part of our first century. Here’s to the next 100 years and the generations of Cardinals still to come. ❤️💛

We were pleased to welcome U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen to Skagit Valley College’s Head Start Center in Oak Harbor!

During his visit, Rep. Larsen met with children, families, and staff and learned more about SVC’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs, which provide early learning, health, nutrition, and family support services. The visit also gave SVC staff an opportunity to share some of the challenges currently facing Head Start programs and the families they serve.

Thank you, Rep. Larsen, for taking the time to visit, listen, and learn more about the important work happening in our community.

Then vs. Now: ⚾️ More than 70 years apart, but the view from home plate still represents the same Cardinal spirit.

From the 1950s to today, generations of Skagit Valley College baseball players have stepped into the batter's box with determination, pride and a love for the game. While uniforms, equipment and the campus have changed, the tradition of Cardinal baseball continues to inspire each new generation.

As we celebrate 100 years of Skagit Valley College, it's moments like these that remind us how far we've come and the legacy that's still being written.

Cardinal Craft Brewing is bringing home the gold... and silver! 🍻🏆

Skagit Valley College’s Cardinal Craft Brewing students earned two international medals at the 2026 International B**r and C***r Awards:

🥇 Gold Medal: English Dark Mild
🥈 Silver Medal: Robust Porter

The wins bring Cardinal Craft Brewing to 10 competition medals since 2017, including four in just the past two years.

Want to taste the award-winning brews yourself? Both are currently on tap and open to the public at the Cardinal Craft Brewing Academy in Burlington.
