In Alan Dang’s 2nd year architecture students took on the challenge of designing cantilever structures that pushed beyond the typical 3:1 span ratio — aiming instead for an ambitious 1:3 ratio. Working in teams of five, they explored load transfer, structural performance, and efficiency increasing weights placed at varying points along each structure. The final test pushed structures to support a total of 4kg at the cantilever’s end.

This video, with music only, shows small calibration weights being put on different groups cantilever project to test their strength. They were set up in the classroom.
